Biomass energy
From Interwest Energy Alliance Wiki
Biomass Energy is a form of renewable energy derived from the processing of biological material, usually plant material and animal waste. In the past, biomass has been burned in order to produce heat, but recent technology has produced two more effective forms of producing energy from biomass: co-firing, and gasification. Co-Firing burns biomass mixed with coal in current power plants. This process produces less carbon emissions and can reduce operating costs at power plants. Gasification converts biomass into a variety of gaseous, liquid, or solid fuels that can used directly in a power plant for energy production. From Union of Concerned Scientists [1]
